Refund policy

Last updated: June 30, 2026

At Plotora, every artwork is individually created using real pens, real ink, and premium paper. Because each piece is custom-made specifically for each customer, our return and refund policy differs from that of mass-produced products.

Our goal is simple: if we make a mistake, we will make it right.

Nothing in this Policy limits your rights under applicable consumer protection laws, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 of New Zealand where applicable.

1. Returns

As nearly all Plotora products are custom-made and personalized, we generally do not accept returns or exchanges simply because:

  • you changed your mind;
  • you selected the wrong size;
  • you entered incorrect personalization details;
  • you ordered the wrong product;
  • you no longer require the artwork;
  • you expected the artwork to look different from your personal preference;
  • you misunderstood the product description or preview.

Please review your order carefully before completing checkout.

2. Order Changes & Cancellations

Orders may only be modified or cancelled before production begins.

Once production has started, we are generally unable to cancel, modify or refund an order because every artwork is produced specifically for that customer.

3. Damaged, Incorrect or Defective Orders

If your order arrives:

  • damaged during shipping;
  • materially defective;
  • incorrectly manufactured due to our error;
  • or you receive the wrong product,

please contact us within 14 days of delivery.

Please include:

  • your order number;
  • a detailed description of the issue;
  • clear photographs of the product;
  • photographs of the packaging if shipping damage occurred.

After reviewing your claim, Plotora may, at its sole discretion:

  • remake the artwork;
  • replace the artwork;
  • issue a partial refund;
  • issue a full refund.

4. Handmade Artwork

Every Plotora artwork is individually drawn using physical pens and real ink on paper.

Unlike digital printing, each piece is physically created line by line through a mechanical pen plotting process.

Because of the nature of this production method, every artwork is unique.

Minor variations are an inherent characteristic of genuine pen-plotted artwork and are not considered manufacturing defects.

These characteristics may include, but are not limited to:

  • slight differences in ink density;
  • natural ink flow variations;
  • occasional feathering;
  • microscopic ink dots;
  • tiny interruptions in individual lines;
  • slight pen pressure variations;
  • natural paper fibres;
  • paper texture;
  • paper grain;
  • small paper imperfections;
  • natural colour variations between paper batches;
  • extremely small alignment tolerances;
  • tiny positioning deviations caused by the plotting mechanism.

These characteristics are considered part of the artistic process and do not qualify for replacement or refund.

5. Materials

Plotora carefully selects high-quality papers and archival inks.

However, paper and ink are natural physical materials that may contain characteristics outside our control.

Accordingly, Plotora does not warrant that every sheet of paper or every ink line will be completely identical or entirely free from naturally occurring material characteristics.

Minor variations in paper or ink that do not materially affect the overall appearance or usability of the artwork are not considered defects.

6. Colour Variations

Colours displayed on computer monitors, tablets and mobile devices may differ from the finished physical artwork.

Differences may occur due to:

  • monitor calibration;
  • screen technology;
  • ambient lighting;
  • paper colour;
  • ink absorption;
  • printing and photography conditions.

Such differences do not constitute defects.

7. Accuracy of Artwork
